BEAUTY FOR ASHES

"To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified". (Isaiah 61:3)

Hi, my name is Jesse Larsen, and this site was created to help people find beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM

Give ear to wisdom,
through the fear of the Lord it begins,
Taste and see His holiness,
He died for our sins.

My heart has loved vanity,
correction I have despised,
But thanks be to God,
Who alone opens our eyes.

The word of God is sharp,
definitely one of a kind,
He alone can penetrate,
the superficial mind.

Give ear to wisdom,
the doctrine that is sound,
But remember your Creator,
from Him true wisdom is found.

Before wisdom is sorrow,
after pride is a fall,
this is my experience,
I thought I knew it all.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10).

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

ONLY THROUGH JESUS

Only through Jesus
and not through me...
it's only through Him
that I truly see.

Only through Jesus
I can't go wrong...
I'm finally singing
a decent song.

Only through Jesus
and not through me...
I have been broken,
but truly set free.

Only through Jesus
I can't go wrong...
when I am weak
He is strong.

Only through Jesus
I'm finally free...
I only wish
that all could see...
that this is not
because of me...
only through Jesus
I'm truly free!

Only through Jesus,
this is my case:
I'm only a sinner,
saved by grace.

Note: Before I wrote this poem, I said a short prayer asking God to give me the right words for this poem. So to Him be the glory. Here are some verses that helped inspire this poem....

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the
gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:5-7).

My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is
made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I want to recommend the The Berean Call to every believer in Christ who is interested in staying informed about the latest unbiblical teachings and practices impacting the church, or looking for some good biblical meat. It is an excellent ministry which I highly recommend to every serious student of God's word.

They have a free monthly newsletter which is definitely worth checking out, and they also have an excellent radio show which you can hear online.
